Unite the many, defeat the few --- fight for democracy!
The depths of capitalist imperialism have driven several
countries to ruin through WAR: Imperial Japan, fascist Italy,
NAZI Germany, and the allies of these big three such as
Romania, Hungary, Bulgaria, and the Slovaks who joined the
AXIS invasion of the Soviet Union and Western Europe.  Will our
adventures in the Middle East in the so called War on Terror
bring us to the same end?  It needn't be that way but the
possibility is there if we don't act responsibly and intelligently
as a people and as a nation. This page will have thought and
commentary on War and Foreign Policy.
War of Occupation is impossible in
Iraq and Afghanistan --- Hollis
Stewart

The new commitment by the
Obama administration
demonstrates a complete lack of
understanding of the parameters
of fighting a war on an undefined
enemy.  Hitherto wars have been
fought between nations and one
or the other nation won when it
occupied the land or territory of its
adversary.  However, the "War on
Terror"  began and continues to
be fought as a nation/s against a
diffused, guerrilla style opponent
that holds no nation and can't be
occupied.  Rather the enemy has
been characterized as a war
against a person, Osama Bin
Laden, and a community
organization type structure, Al
Qaeda, which operates as a
guerrilla military as one of its
functions.  In fighting this personal
vendetta against OBL the US and
our Allies have invaded two
countries Afghanistan and Iraq that
never attacked us and killed many
of the civilians of both nations as
well as dismantling the civil
structure of the societies.
Meanwhile, Al Qaeda simply moved
to other fronts following the
guerrilla strategy of refusing to
come to do combat in a positional
warfare strategy that nations use
but which is unavailable to an
insurgency or guerrilla movement.
Recently it has come to light that
our own government has been
using Terror as a strategy with the
utilization of assassination teams
that operates/operated  out of the
White House through the Office of
ex-Vice President Dick(head)
Chaney.

Now, the commitment to send
20,000 more troops into
Afghanistan plays directly to the
strength of the opponent and
further weakens our country.  It is
the hope of Al Qaeda, and groups
like it, that the US will continue to
spread
willy-nilly across the middle east,
enraging the peoples of the
various countries as their fellow
citizens, families, and friends are
wantonly killed by our forces who
have no idea what they are doing
or why they are doing it.  We make
it easier for our opponents by not
resisting the temptation to charge
into the trap set for us.  The
Afghans have been an independent
people for thousands of years and
have a great tradition defeating
invaders on their territory by
refusing to surrender their
freedom and sovereignty to
outsiders, patiently wearing down
the invaders and at last defeating
them.  They kicked the British out,
the kicked the Soviets out and they
will kick the US and our allies out or
make us pay a terrible price for our
mis-adventures based on old
thinking.

OBL, who may or may not be the
"brains" or "mastermind" behind
the insurgency/guerrilla war, is
probably sitting in his Pakistani
cave (or maybe he is in another
country) putting markers on a map
and laughing as the US spreads its
forces farther and farther across
the middle east.  In fact he probably
hopes that the US will soon send
troops into Pakistan in large
numbers because this will bring the
war into one of the most densely
populated areas of the world --- and
a nation with nuclear weapons, a
large military that is jealous of its
territory, and a fierce Muslim
people who are tired of living in
poverty and at the mercy of the
west.  An incursion by the US would
furnish radical islam with millions of
possible recruits.  Already our
"drones", our assassination
squads, and our support of the
recently defeated military dictator
have polarized the population
against us.

Who knows: did we assassinate
Ms. Bhutto last fall as she was
preparing to take power after her
electoral victory? It is for sure that
Ms.Bhutto would not have been a
President for Pakistan that
Dick(head) Cheney would have
liked to tolerate.

And, like Bush, Obama is trying to
get US allies to commit troops and
resources to Afghanistan but it is
not going to happen.  Oh sure, the
laughing stock ass licking British
will probably send some ignorant
young men there, but not much
else is going to happen because
the other countries understand
the stakes and aren't about to be
around to suffer the defeat.  It is
an American war and it will be lost
by our nation because our
generals, who only get promotions
when they can point to wars that
need their services, will continue
to work to drum up business.

There was a reason that the
framers of our Constitution,
Thomas Jefferson first of all, made
the military subservient to the
civilian, elected leadership --- to
not allow generals to promote
policy so that they would have a
vested interest in promoting wars.
Our troops deserve better than to fight and die in Afghanistan and Iraq following a bogus war policy that was
built on a foundation of lies, misdirection, and fear hyping by the Bush/Cheney administration.  Afghanistan
never attacked the US and offered to turn OBL over to the US if we furnished evidence of his involvement with
the attacks of 9/11.  Iraq never supported OBL or had anything to do with 9/11.  Now, we are told we must stay
the course because of the troops we have lost and the investment that we have made.  How many dead troops
and civilian casualties will it take in Afghanistan and Iraq before we do the inevitable and leave?  The people
of these nations can and must handle their own problems. No War for Oil!  Obama should get us out, just cut
and go and then pay reparations for the damage we have done in these two countries.
Recently, General McCrystal got fired for his ignorant comments about his commander in chief, the President, but the real
problem is that reality on the ground is catching up with his failed strategy of counter insurgency, COIN.  We have managed
to kill civilians, destroy villages, and wreak havoc on the people of Afghanistan and Pakistan in our surge and all it has done
is further alienate the citizens of both nations.  Now we are sending General Petraeus there but he won't do any better.
JUST FOR THOUGHT: IRAQ HAS NOT BEEN PACIFIED OR THE WAR "WON",  RATHER THE LOW INTENSITY WARFARE
CONTINUES AND IN THE LONG RUN WE WILL BE SENT PACKING IN BOTH OF THESE COUNTRIES AS WE WERE IN
VIETNAM.
We can't run other people's countries for them --- that is their business.

Several Americans were killed when a "double" agent blew himself up in a CIA outpost in Afghanistan.  Again, while we may
find some "Arabs" or "Muslims" willing to sell out their own brothers and sisters for money to participate in a program of
"Arabs killing Arabs" or "Muslims killing Muslims" in the service of the West most will not and they will sell out their
American handlers in a hot minute .

You or I would not kill our fellow Americans in a paid program of "Americans killing Americans" for another country.  We
tried this stupid concept in Vietnam when we championed a policy of "Asians killing Asians" to reduce American casualties
in that country.  This racist policy didn't work then and it won't work now. The racism is exhibited when we foolishly believe
that our lives are worth more to others than their own lives, duh. Dullards like McCrystal are a dime a dozen.
