| When I was a young person after WW2 --- the Big One --- I was taught by my government that the German Democratic Republic was wrong to build a wall, the Berlin Wall, between the socialist zone and the capitalist zone. In fact the world rejoiced when Gorbachov coordinated with the GDR and other "Eastern Bloc" countries in the dismantling of "the Wall". Now, the proto-fascists in the US have built pressure on our democratic government to build a wall to keep out our neighbors. What is wrong with us --- what have we become? Our governments actions seem more and more like the actions of a "totalitarian state" and we have the responsibility to see that this ugly piece of excrement on the border is torn down and we rebuild the mutual respect and friendship that characterized the Mexican/United States border for many years. FYI: these pictures were taken near Jacumba, CA in early October, 2008. It is shameful that American workers would build this wall. Or maybe, like the "good' Germans who manned the Concentration Camps they feel that they are "good" Americans just doing a good days work and refusing or not caring enough to think of what their actions say about them and our nation. |
