| Why, Unite the Many, Defeat the Few? It is our country, dammit! by Hollis Stewart The challenges facing our nation today call upon us to work together as a people to project the best of the values of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. It is time that we stop the use of the US Military as a mercenary group to further private, not public, narrow corporate business interests in other countries while declaring this misuse of military force as in the "national interest". Our military should be used only for legitimate national interests --- the defense of the nation --- and not the cockamamie occupation of other countries in order to allow our oil corporations to steal the wealth of the occupied and thereby deny their peoples the resources they need to develop their own nations and move to peace and prosperity in the world. The preamble of the Constitution of the United States commits the government to provide for the American people with these words:
perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America." disintegrate in the interests of allowing the wealthy to evade their fair share of taxes and the corporate structures have been allowed to modify economic practices to their benefit while endangering the homes of families unable to cope with debt. The wealthy have profited off the backs of the common Americans and amassed undreamed of wealth for their personal use while health, education, and the general welfare of the population has been endangered. It is the duty of a nation to provide through a government for the common needs of the people: education, health, housing, nourishment, i.e. the general welfare and this function requires that taxes be raised to pay the costs. At one time, not many years ago, the majority of taxes were paid by corporations and the wealthy but the government, responding to the non-constitutional 4th branch of government, THE LOBBYISTS OF THE PRIVATE INTERESTS, have changed the tax structure so that the burden has been transferred to the middle income and working people of the country. Consequently when there is not "sufficient" tax revenues then services to the poor and working people are cut --- not the subsidies to the rich including the use of the military to guard their private interests. And it should be noted that the cost of the military is threatening to bankrupt the nation --- not the social services such as social security, medicare, and the like, no the military which produces nothing but consumes tremendous national resources. THERE IS AN ANSWER: ORGANIZE OURSELVES TO TAKE THE GOVERNMENT AWAY FROM THE RICH AND POWERFUL AND RETURN IT TO THE DUTIES PRESCRIBED BY THE CONSTITUTION AND THE BILL OF RIGHTS. IF THE RICH AND POWERFUL HAVE TAKEN THE GOVERNMENT THEN THEY ARE AN OCCUPIER, A FOREIGN AND STRANGE ENTITY AND IN THE WORDS OF THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE,
NECESSARY FOR ONE PEOPLE TO DISSOLVE THE POLITICAL BANDS WHICH HAVE CONNECTED THEM WITH ANOTHER, AND TO ASSUME AMONG THE POWERS OF THE EARTH, THE SEPARATE AND EQUAL STATION TO WHICH THE LAWS OF NATURE AND OF NATURE'S GOD ENTITLE THEM, A DECENT RESPECT FOR THE OPINIONS OF MANKIND REQUIRES THAT THEY SHOULD DECLARE THE CAUSES WHICH IMPEL THEM TO THE SEPARATION." This is our cause: to restore our government by the people, for the people. We must take back our country so that we, our children, and their children can enjoy the fruits of liberty and justice for all and not be forced to live under the Iron Heel (see the wonderful book by one of our best authors, Jack London) of the oligarchy. | Friends: Recently I camped down along the Mexican Border and while there took a look at the Ugly, Disgusting, apartheid fence that we are building along the border to keep the Mexicans out. I remember when the Berlin Wall came down as a symbol of freedom and now we and Israel are building walls --- whoa, what is that all about? Why not a border wall with Canada: Oh, right, Canadians are considered to be "white" and they are all right. The headline for a major article in the Business Section of the 7/4/09 Los This important story was buried on page B4 with the obvious intent of “informing the public” without informing the public, i.e. if you aren’t the type to read into the paper then you wouldn’t notice the story but that is your fault. The meat of the story is simple: Oil speculators bought a lot of oil during the spring, squirreled it away on tankers and other storage facilities with the aim of The headline for a major article in the Business Section of the 7/4/09 Los selling it at a high price making a immense profits by screwing the rest of us --- the consumers. Now though the speculators have a problem --- we consumers have quit driving so much, lowering demand, in order to save during this economic downturn and therefore there is a “glut” of unsold petroleum products and this has kept price artificially low. UTMDTF says, “Now if we the people would really learn this lesson we would organize boycotts of particular oil companies, banks, insurance companies, chain stores, what ever to force prices to fall even further.” This can be our wrench for some non-violent fixing and tuning of the economy to make it work for we the people. In the same Business Section of 7/4/09, but covered on page 1 was the news that the rate and total number of foreclosures is about to balloon again as the big banks and their subsidiaries go about reclaiming their capital that has been invested in toxic mortgages that were sold to unsuspecting home buyers and in the case of home owners, refinance schemes. In other words the foreclosure business is about to further hurt the economy and take homes away from families that are now suffering from the growing unemployment across the nation. The only people who are worse scum than these bankers are the new “foreclosure opportunity” dirt bag companies who are hyping get rich schemes in the foreclosure market. In the old days when the foreclosure people came around communities organized and tarred and feathered the bas___ds but we are all just so nice anymore. Americans have lost the guts to stand up for themselves. Recently there have been several articles in the LA Times, the New York Times and other on and off line publications explaining that even if this economy recovers the jobs that have been lost will probably never be regained as more production and service is moved off shore by our American capitalists who can make bigger bucks for their investors by lowing labor costs through hiring cheap foreign workers. IN OTHER WORDS, THE AMERICAN CAPITALISTS INTEREST IS THE BOTTOM LINE PROFITS AND THEY DON’T CARE IF THEY ARE EARNED BY HURTING OTHER AMERICANS. These corporate owners and managers don’t care about our country --- they just see it as a thing to be exploited. This cheap-ing out is the same reason that these dirt bag upper crust ass__les shipped our industrial capacity overseas during in the 80s, 90s, and into this new century. Their only interest is their own wealth --- it is called greed and it is what forced Jesus to throw the money changers out of the temple (but we just let them go on screwing us cause we have lost our courage to act). It is high time that we UNITE THE MANY AND DEFEAT THE FEW by getting organized and taking back our country so that the economy serves the needs of the people of the nation first and the greed of the upper crust way down the line. For the past several months the stock market has been rising a little and the business press has been crowing about the end of the downturn, the end of the recession. Maybe for the wealthy, but not for the unemployed, underemployed and those who are struggling to get by. In the smaller print or the back pages there are little remarks like, "this will be a recovery without a growth of jobs" and "unemployment will be slow to come down." So why the celebratory stories? Because the capitalists who own the system like to keep employment down --- they make more profits when they don't have to pay wages and benefits and can bully the employees they still have to work harder for less. Why, because if a national health plan is successful then the success will undercut the belief that the only way to have a successful society is under capitalism. And the insurance companies who have stolen 30% or more of the health insurance premiums they have received right off the top will be even more suspect. Insurance is just a scam and a ponzi scheme, sort of like Madoff on steroids, that takes from the policy holders and gives to the rich. Yes, Insurance Rob-them-hood robs the poor to give to the rich. The insurance industry scares the hell out of the populace to get us to buy insurance and even after we do the companies look under every rock to keep from paying when a claim is made or a policy holder has to have medical care. |
| 6-30-2010 --- Well the rabbit out of the hat hasn't been able to maintain any backbone and in the last few weeks the market has dropped like a lead balloon, crept back up a bit and now in the last three days has dropped like a rock again. No surprise if you have been watching things: we still are not moving back into being a producing society instead of a consuming society. The government and business/financial wonks keep telling us to buy baby buy to help the economy but if we are deep in debt already or out of work then that just won't cut it. While trying to get along with the GOP, the congress and the administration has piddled away the good will they had, the money that could have been used to help the people was frittered away helping the banksters, and nothing has been built. This is of course just what the GOP, the tea baggers, and the libertarians want: anarchy. What they think they can build out of anarchy is a question but they don't care about the American people so they could care less if the policies fail --- the GOP will have pulled in all those lobbying dollars from the neo-fascist corporatist and the crazy right wingers who are reactionaries trying to pose as conservatives. For the past year the "stock markets" and financial institutions seemed to have pulled a rabbit out of the hat and saved the economy. Of course unemployment didn't improve much if at all, folks were still losing their homes to foreclosure but the rich were getting richer --- especially at Banks like Goldman-Sachs where $Billions were being handed out as bonuses --- after using our tax money to paper over their losses. Well, now things are skidding a bit and the market is lower now than at the first of the year. Will it continue to deteriorate? Heck, I don't know but it probably will slide more with some little upspurts from time to time. Why? Because all that paper money isn't value created from the production of goods. What goods expansion there is mainly is happening in capitalist China [betcha lots of people are wishing the old communist China were back]. A little about "patriotism" also called "nationalism". A lot of commentators spout off about how we are Americans and that we are all in this economic mess together. They preach this so that you and I won't questions the fact that the government hands out a few trillion dollars to the rich while we don't get squat. Oh a trillion looks like this $1,000,000,000,000.00, see, so when they give away multiples of trillions it is a lot of our taxes. | UTMDTF --- 8/14/09 It has gotten weird. The government is giving away money to get people to buy stinking cars and even with that consumer spending and confidence is falling. You and I are at last saying, "If I don't need this product then I am not going to buy it." We have gotten sick and tired of buying stuff --- and then storing it in the garage. We also seem to have gotten on to the secret that our children have gotten into buying junk: clothes that are intentionally "styled out" in a few days and therefore aren't worn out but replaced to sit in the closet, cell phones that are pimped up with added extras that cost more every month and other junk. Now we have to organize and take power and run the crazies of the Gone Off Party off the streets. This is our country and we can't allow ignorant, white, racist idiots to take it over and run it into the ground. These fools are being used by insurance companies and the likes of Limbaugh to do the dirty work of disruption and violence. |

| 7-2-10: Amazing the stuff you read on the internet. Here is the Yahoo Financial page headline today: "Stocks fall as jobs report adds to economic fears." Can you believe that? These clowns don't know what to do so they try to make the economy sound like it isn't as serious as it is. The media sits in the lap of the wealthy sector and tries to get you and me to buy their stocks, bonds, cars, boats, and bullfeathers we don't even need. Meanwhile the really wealthy have dumped the derivative toxins that their institutions created on other owners and the wealthy are setting pretty. And BP continues destroying the Gulf. Why doesn't BP go destroy the coast of Britain? We ought to nationalize BP and use every asset it has for the next 20 years to clean up the Gulf --- if it can ever be cleaned up. 7-1-2010: The news is not very good friends, in fact it is down right depressing: Unemployment is up, the markets are dropping, car sales are tanking with the cessation of the government subsidy , government layoffs are looming in many states further adding to the unemployed rolls, unemployment compensation is being cut to 1.6 million workers with 200,000 more to be cut each week, British Petroleum continues to kill the Gulf with barely a pittance of $20B being demanded by our government and hurricane season is coming on, the Big Bank(sters) are giving themselves handsome bonuses and dividends, and under the "just say no policy of the GOP" our governments, federal and state, are foundering. Here in California we have two equally unqualified candidates running for high office: Meg (I never voted in elections but I still understand government and care.) Whitman for governor and Carly Fiorina, the former Hewlett Packard CEO who moved the silicon valley jobs off shore for cheaper wages and was fired, is running for Senator. Oh just for good measure Meg was one of the Board of Directors of Goldman-Sachs as they were cooking the deals that ran our country into the ground --- and she got rich doing it! What a deal. Funny how she brags about E-bay, where others did the work, but doesn't crow about Goldman-Sachs. And of course we still have two wars running that are depleting the resources of our country. To cover up the damage being done to the nation the military-industrial-financial complex has raised the specter of retirees on Social Security driving the deficits --- pure bull___t, it's the wars and the tax policies of the GOP since the time of Reagan that are taking us down. The attack on the older citizens is just more divide and conquer, an effort to turn the young against the old. The reactionaries of the GOP and the Libertarian Party are the problem and we must organize to throw them on the dust bin of history or our nation will fall in ruin, torn about by greed, jealousy, racism, nativist jingoism, and ignorance fostered by the hate science folks of the Bible thumping right wing.
